How about adding a Summary page in the admincp, it would be the first page the admin lands on. It would contain basic stats like user count, project count, ticket count, traq's version, maybe database size.
Also it would be a great place to put a "check for updates" button so the admin would know if there are any updates.
This idea came to me when I was messing in the phpBB admincp so you might want to check that out for inspiration.
